Vth board: 2024-2025

Siska Schorn: President
Hi! My name is Siska, I’m 24 years old and I am the candidate president of the new VSA board. I graduated in Social Work and I’m almost finished with my second bachelor’s in Liberal Arts and Sciences with a focus on language aqcuisition. Currently, I work as a teacher for the Nederlands Mathematisch Instituut and I’m a research assistent at Utrecht University. When I joined VSA Utrecht it felt like a warm bath, because being vegan is the fundamental norm that makes way for beautiful connections. It’s nice to be around so many likeminded people and I’d want other people to feel the warmth of this community as well. I’d love to bring the VSA to a higher level and create a more cohesive VSA culture. I’d also love to organise various events and make the VSA more known within Utrecht by collaborating with other associations and partners. I hope to see you at an event and feel free to let me know where you’d like the VSA to go!

Emma Ottenhof: Treasurer
My name is Emma, I’m 22 years old and after the summer I will be starting my Master’s in Climate Physics at Utrecht University. Previously, I’ve followed education in both Physics and Art. Other things I like are philosophy, psychology, ecosystems biology, reading fiction, bouldering and playing Mario Kart. Besides that, I like most animals more than I like most humans, with at the top of the list (in no particular order): the shrimp from my shrimp colonies, my parents’ cats, the spider behind my nightstand, the moths who have decided to settle in our kitchen and the neighbourhood cat who we’ve named “Majesteit” because she behaves like royalty.
The VSA has brought me a lot, and now it feels like it’s time for me to give something back 🙂 Besides making excel sheets and making sure our association’s money only goes to super awesome things, I’d love to focus on strengthening our VSA culture and reinforcing our position on the Utrecht student association landscape. For instance, I think it would be cool to work together with other student associations more. Furthermore, I’d love to work on further increasing the number of active members.
I’m excited to take care of our beautiful association next year, and hope to see you all at many events.

Cato Hulscher: Secretary
I’m a first year Psychology student and I’ve moved to Utrecht last year. I’m really enjoying my studies, and hope to become a clinical psychologist one day. Before moving here I still considered myself vegetarian, but now I’ve converted to fully vegan (also thanks to the VSA). I’m very glad I joined the VSA, for meeting like-minded people, but also for all the fun activities and clubs :). This year I wanna give back to the community and keep the VSA thriving, and maybe even make it bigger and more known around campus and welcome new members and students.
More about me, outside of school I work in homecare, but starting in July I’ll be working for Copperbranch, really excited for that so definitely come by sometime 🙂 I also volunteer as a buddy at WachtVerzachter, a mental health organization. In my free time I like to go to concerts and festivals, read books, exercise (I play soccer and like to go jogging and do yoga) and I like to do art, especially painting. Other things I love are animals (ofcourse), thrifting clothes and cooking and baking delicious vegan food :p
This year I wanna give back to the community and keep the VSA thriving. My plans for the future are mainly making the VSA more known around campus and welcome new members/students. Furthermore, I’d like to invest in making the VSA a safe space for everyone.
